ABOUT ME

Tour guideI've always wondered what the meaning of life is? I have come to the conclusion that there are multiple answers to this question. The most acceptable to me is that you have to simply enjoy Life! To hear, see, taste and love the world. I like the twinkling of trees, the birds' clattering wings, the ringing of the bells, the sound of the flute, the aubergines, the licorice, the Monday mornings, the Gothic style, the Baroque sculptures and Margaret Atwood.

On our tours we visit Hungarian wine regions, get acquainted with the man-made and the natural treasures, local food specialties and especially the WINES!

I have been working in tourism since 1999, I show foreigners the sights of Hungary and Central Europe. Cellar visits and winetasting are everyday programs. At first I just interpreted the winemakers' words, I did not taste the wine because people don’t drink during working hours, right?! Then came the moment when I grabbed the tons of information heard about the wine and made me enlighten, as if I had been awakened from a dream, I realized how much knowledge, work, and luck needed to make this beautiful product. Climate, soil, grape variety, weather, cultivation mode, good choice of harvest time, cellar technology, the knowledge of the winemaker, all of these are in the finished wine.

So the WINE’s complexity was suddenly so enlightening that I tasted it in my glass and realized that wine was so good! This is the only living drink, where flavor molecules are constantly evolving. This gave me the initial boost to study wine more thoroughly and scientifically, both in theory and practice. With this I got help from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust International Wine School where I'm currently at WSET 4 Diploma Course at the Weinakademie in Austria. I would like to make everybody observe, understand and love the complexity that an excellent wine can show.

Come with me to a tour to explore the local food, wine and culture of the region.

  • I liked very much Polika’s enthusiastic way of presenting Budapest! We choose the Highlights of Budapest Tours and Polika did a brilliant job tailoring the food and wine tasting to our requests as my wife is diabetic. This 4h tour gave us a large overview of Budapest and made us like more Budapest.

  • Highly recommended wine tours! Guide Polika is very knowledgeable and charming, she knows everything about Hungarian wines and she could refer on French wines as well. Our journey in Tokaj was the crown on our trip in Hungary.
